City Of Evil, co-diproduksi oleh Avenged Sevenfold, reunites grup dengan produsen Mudrock (Waking The Fallen).

"Jika terjadi apa-apa kami tidak pernah jatuh, it's like they're holding kami atas. Wee tidak di radio, tetapi di mana-mana kita kita ini selalu ada sekelompok penggemar fanatik. Kita tidak pernah memiliki jika kita telah beberapa lucky break dan hanya melompat ke titik kami di sekarang. I hope it bertahap terus naik. yang lambat Anda pergi semakin I think it dibangun di bawah Anda dan kami bersyukur untuk itu. Mereka tidak bisa mendapatkan dicabut dari bawah kita. ..:: Biography ::..
No band affected the metal world more than Pantera during the early to mid-'90s. Beginning with its 1990 album, Cowboys from Hell, the post-thrash band put to rest any and all remnants of the '80s metal scene, almost single-handedly demolishing any notion that hair metal, speed metal, power metal, et al., were anything but passé. Sure, a lot of critics point toward Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and the subsequent alternative rock explosion as the death knell of '80s-style metal, but you could just as easily point toward Pantera. In fact, most metalheads do exactly that. Looking back, it wasn't like legions of dyed-in-the-wool headbangers suddenly cut their hair and began listening to Seattle grunge bands. Rather, a great many metalheads were heavily affected by the emergence of Pantera, especially the Vulgar Display of Power album, which was unlike any other metal album of the time, emerging as it did in 1992. That album in particular stood out at the time, slowing down the breakneck tempos of thrash and upping the heaviness quotient, as well as changing the vocal style, pushing it more toward hardcore or even grindcore.

By the time Pantera unleashed Far Beyond Driven in 1994, they were the most popular metal band in the land, as the frenzy surrounding that Billboard chart-topping album testified. However, the band began to self-destruct around this same time as well. Drug abuse certainly played a role, with lead vocalist Phil Anselmo ODing on heroin at one point, for instance, and tensions within the band also playing a role in its ultimate, acrimonious dissolution. The final nail in Pantera's coffin came during the early to mid-2000s, when Anselmo began engaging himself in a multitude of side projects and when, very sadly, guitarist Dimebag Darrell was bizarrely murdered on-stage in late 2004. This much-publicized murder shone the spotlight back on Pantera for a brief moment, and amid all of the emotional outpours and media commentary, a consensus arose: Pantera had indeed been a landmark band, somewhat undervalued during their reign, with practically every contemporary metal band of the time openly paying tribute to their legacy.

Pantera's beginnings date back to the early '80s when the Texas-based band began releasing albums on the Metal Magic label. Originally, the band featured then-teenaged brothers Darrell Abbott (aka Dimebag Darrell and, for a short while, Diamond Darrell) and Vinnie Paul Abbott (aka Vinnie Paul), as well as Rex Brown (aka Rex Rocker) and Terrence Lee (aka Terry Glaze). They debuted in 1983 with Metal Magic, followed by Projects in the Jungle in 1984 and I Am the Night in 1985. Singer Phil Anselmo then replaced Glaze, and the group went on to record Power Metal, an album released in 1988 that eventually scored the group a deal with East West.

While these '80s albums are no doubt curious to hear, it's fairly evident that this was a much different Pantera. For the most part, fans and surely the band treat Cowboys from Hell as Pantera's "official" debut album featuring the group's longtime lineup: Anselmo (vocals), Dimebag (guitar), Vinnie Paul (drums), and Rex Brown (bass). This album put Pantera on the national metal map, particularly thanks to songs like "Cemetery Gates" and the title track. Two years later, Pantera returned with Vulgar Display of Power and solidified their status as an up-and-coming metal band with a unique sound. It took a little while, but Vulgar Display of Power made serious waves among metalheads. MTV certainly played a role, putting the band's videos into relatively heavy rotation, but more than anything, positive word of mouth and explosive live performances did wonders for Pantera, who had a very unique sound for the time. When Far Beyond Driven hit the streets in 1994, Pantera had become the most popular band in the metal land. The album debuted atop the Billboard album charts -- quite a feat for such extreme music! -- and the band continued its seemingly never-ending string of tours, packing sports arenas across America.

When Pantera returned in 1996 with their next album, The Great Southern Trendkill, quite a bit had changed. They'd begun experimenting with their sound, slowing down their tempos and moving away from the relentless heaviness of Far Beyond Driven. The album also featured a very bitter, reactionary tone, with a heavy use of vocal overdubbing. (Anselmo's vocals were notably recorded at Trent Reznor's studio, and are quite demonic at times.) Moreover, Anselmo wrote quite a bit about drug abuse in songs like "Suicide Note" and "Living Through Me (Hells' Wrath)," no doubt alluding to the personal demons and tensions that had begun pulling the band apart. Partly as a result of such experimentation and personal abandon, Trendkill may indeed be Pantera's most curious album. In any event, reactions from fans and critics were mixed, and sales fell.

It would be four years before Pantera released another studio album, releasing a stopgap live album in 1997, the fierce Official Live: 101 Proof. During this long interim, rumors swirled and Anselmo further distanced himself from the band, participating in various side projects, among them Down, with which he experienced quite a bit of success. Pantera did reunite, however -- one last time -- for Reinventing the Steel, which was released in 2000 and, like The Great Southern Trendkill, didn't come close to matching the impact of Far Beyond Driven. By this point the band's following had dwindled, and the metal landscape had undergone serious changes with the emergence of alt-metal bands like Korn and Tool, not to mention the likes of Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit.

And that would be the end of Pantera, with the token greatest-hits albums and whatnot appearing now and then. In the years to follow, the bandmembers busied themselves with side projects, most notably the host of bands fronted by Anselmo. His projects included, among other endeavors, Down, Superjoint Ritual, Viking Crown, and Southern Isolation -- none of which bore much resemblance to Pantera. Meanwhile, Dimebag and Vinnie Paul formed Damageplan, a fairly stable band that sought to pick up where Pantera had left off. In fact, they even played some Pantera songs during their live shows.

Following the release of their debut album, New Found Power, and some club shows, Damageplan met a tragic end on December 7, 2004. That night -- 24 years after John Lennon's shooting to the day! -- a homicidal fan shot Dimebag at a small club show in Columbus, OH. The band hadn't gotten more than a song into its show before the murderer breached security, jumped on-stage, and shot the guitarist numerous times at point blank, murdering a few others in the process. The tragedy was big news in the States, grabbing headlines everywhere the day afterward. For a sad moment that day, the spotlight shone once again on Pantera, arguably the greatest metal band of the '90s and, no doubt, one of the greatest and most influential metal bands ever.

autopsy

..:: Biography ::..
In a way that seems to be either always greatly overlooked or sadly ill-considered by the metal community at large is that: sometime in the early months of 1986, perhaps one of the greatest metal associations between extreme musicians was formed. This being the union of Chuck Schuldiner and Chris Reifert, whom together represented the new face of Chuck's band DEATH to record the demo "Mutilation" and then the now death metal classic "Scream Bloody Gore" lp (Chris aged 17, Chuck 19).

The union split when Chuck relocated from California to Florida, not too long after the release of "S.B.G". Chris later hooked up with Eric Cutler and Eric Eigard (guitar and bass respectively) and began jamming as 'The Aborted'. Demo*1 ("Stillborn") was recorded locally and the band changed their name to AUTOPSY. Just a few rehersals from the completion of demo*2 ("Critical Madness") Danny Coralles joined to complete the line-up on 2nd guitar. Before the second demo was recorded, Eigard left the band to be replaced by Ken Sorvari. Bassists would turn out to be the bane of AUTOPSY's continued existence. Sorvari stayed in the band for around the first LP period, although DiGiorgio played bass on the actual LP itself as a session musician, also filling in to do the tracks for 'Retribution for the Dead' EP. Eric's own brother Steve played in the band on the 'Mental Funeral' LP and European tour. Steve DiGiorgio played once more on the 'Fiend for Blood' 12", Josh Barohn (ex SUFFOCATION, 'Acts of...' period) and Freeway Migliore (who has one of the best Metal names in known history) for 'Shitfun'.

Autopsy released two demos within the space of a year which both revolutionised death metal music in its essence. Chuck had chosen a (what was to become) more technical, more accessible route to his brand of death metal (some people yelled "sell out" as usual) which succesfully got a lot more emphasis and recognition for death metal. AUTOPSY however saw more sense in keeping it raw and brutal as per the original blueprint.

Chris, Danny and Eric were breeding a monster. Alongside CARCASS and DR SHRINKER, their style would pave the way toward what is today called 'goregrind' and has spawned a lot of bands in that genre who will all proudly tell you that Autopsy were the gods.

The bands first vinyl effort was when they blasted out the brilliant platter "Severed Survival"in 1990 just after their third demo of the same year. Some people see this lp as a more thrashy affair but I really would say it was the perfect blend of the then progressive death metal sound spawned from DEATH and their own sound. Autopsy had signed to Peaceville Records for their debut, and was a perfect breeding ground. With labelmates PARADISE LOST at their side, the next formula for death metal was preparing to take shape.

Over in Scandanavia ENTOMBED were carving the world up with their new crunchy sound and the birth of the 'Starlight' studio tone. Just across the border in Norway, DARKTHRONE had already seen the future - they saw how to evolve and made the bold step of gearing down their act. Now, Darkthrone and Autopsy were both 2 bands capable of technicality (as they had both proven with their first lp's) but what was to evolve at this point was to cut the scene into 2 directions. One gave rebirth and physical form to black metal, the other to goregrind. Death metal benefitted in 2 ways and not one drop of blood was spilt. At that point previous death metal seemed to have only a limited future.

Another important element here is the fact that Paradise Lost started getting into the TROUBLE sound and incorporating it into their music. Also, AUTOPSY did the very same thing but they used the doom element for a bolstering of heavyness where Paradise Lost simply sought pastures new and a chance to mellow their sound to change musical forms, and eventually to turn their backs on death metal altogether. However, this worked out in their favour and the legacy they left saves them from anyone slagging them off.

The first evidence of this turn in the AUTOPSY sound was heard on their European tour of Holland and UK backed up by PARADISE LOST, which was a great success for both bands.

Closely following this was the release of "In the Grip of Winter" a 3 song 12 inch. The new style was immense and very welcome indeed at that point. I was fortunate enough to get the white label / test pressing of this record and will never part with the thing, I just thought I would mention it. Cheers.

Hot on its heels was the full lp. Most of us had waited a few months that seemed like years with all the anticipation. What came next was the best AUTOPSY record by many peoples opinion, and that of mine own as well. Many people criticized the production, but many couldnt really see what was happening there. AUTOPSY had found their sound. It was generally most other bands that sought the squeaky clean productions and bright harmonics. AUTOPSY, with the help of Ron Rigler and Hammy (Peaceville manager) at the controls carved out a template that they used to their advantage. Download an example from the Audio section to compare the differences with "Severed Survival" if you need to. The sound was gruesome, grinding, atmospheric and brooding. If you turned it up loud enough it boomed a damned lot too. This lp sorted the men from the boys. AUTOPSY were now an angry bulldog ready to bite your face off, this was the real future of death metal.

Almost frighteningly soon after the carnage had died down from "M.F", along came "Fiend For Blood". Like a rat out of a cage (one filled with corpses and maggots) came this ugly seething mass of burnt decay. Six tortured screams of agony and visions of grotesque deformities came fourth from the speakers. Although the music had taken another gear down in terms of techncality, AUTOPSY made another turn. They included a rare thing in death metal - groove, a jazz bass line and off kilter drumming added to the sound of the sludgy kinda feel already going on with the loud and live sounding production. AUTOPSY no longer gave a fuck anymore about what people thought. They knew full well that only hardcore death metal fans would follow where they led. Being a band of now immense creditability in death metal circles they could almost get away with murder... and who knows?

In 1993 after a few tours and some great acclaim, AUTOPSY answered the begging call with their new platter of splatter "Acts of the Unspeakable". Now this lp wasnt looking for acceptance, it wasnt looking to buy a new fanbase. You took it and if you didnt like it, you never really got what AUTOPSY were all about. Downright sleazy, ugly and despicable - and that was just the inside cover!! "Acts.." is was of the only gatefold death metal lp's, and with good cause too. The Kent Mattieu work of art summed up exactly what you were about to hear. Once again, the band had gone heavier, darker, seedier and more unruly. The production was geared for "members only" death metal fans, being dark anddull as well as bottom end heavy. Some people would use the term a "meaty" production, and that was probably the best way to describe it. "Your rotting face" is like a meat fight in a butchers store room and deals with the sensitive subject of Necrophilia. Now, I know some people reading this may be groaning at the thought of reading such lyrics but let us bare in mind that death metal lyrics on the whole are a tad silly and I'm sure Chris would tell you he doesn't really do such things to corpses...

After more touring to promote their last effort, AUTOPSY went on hold for a short time, Eric had left and some thought all was lost when in 1995 "Shitfun" silenced the desparity. However, by this time death metal had more or less gone bottom up, and a million like sounding bands had drowned what air there was left for most to breath. A lot of the old school death metallers had already sought different climes as a result. This reflected in poorer sales for the new lp (coupled with less promotion on Peacevilles side of things), and the band split up not too long after that.

The end of a legend but also the beginning of a new era for Chris and Danny as they had formed ABSCESS just before 'Shitfun' was recorded and Eric had left. Check out their new lp - "Through the cracks of death". I honestly believe that their new lp surpasses anything they did in the past as AUTOPSY, but of course this is my own opinion. Check em out, see what you think. Cheers for reading!

Accept was formed in 1971 by vocalist Udo Dirkschneider and guitarist Michael Wagener. During their 25-year history the band has endured lineup changes, infighting, break-ups and health problems to emerge as one of Europe's most enduring and calamitous heavy metal rock acts.

Taking their name from a Chicken Shack album, Dirkschneider and Wagener formed Accept in 1971 and, five years later, added second guitarist Joerg Fischer, drummer Frank Friedrich and bassist Peter Baltes to the lineup. In 1976 Wagener left the group to pursue a career as a record producer; he was replaced by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann for Accept's 1978 self-titled debut album. Three albums followed in quick succession, including 1980's I'm a Rebel, 1981's Breaker and 1982's Restless and Wild. Breaker made the band a household name and a huge success throughout Europe. After they released Balls to the Wall in 1983, the band spent the following year on the road with the Monsters of Rock tour. 1985's Metal Hear was Accept's first conceptual album and the first political statement from a metal group, depicting a futuristic nation populated by people with computerized, metal hearts.
After the release of 1986's Russian Roulette, Dirkschneider and Hoffman had a falling out over the commercial future of the band. Dirkschneider, who wanted to pursue more experimental rock avenues, eventually left to form his own band, Udo. After a brief break-up, the band decided to forge ahead with a new vocalist, the British-born Rob Armitage. Michael Reece, an American, then took Armitage's place to record the group's most commercial effort, Eat the Heat in 1989. While on tour, Stefan Kaufmann replaced Friedrich on drums. A back problem forced him to quit the tour and as a result of this and other problems, the band broke up once again.
In 1996 the original members reunited one last time. The result was Predator, an album produced by former band member Michael Wagener. In 1998 the group released their farewell album, The Final Chapter, which contained live versions of their biggest hits.
The band reunited in October 2004 and were quickly confirmed to play at the German festivals Rock Hard and Wacken Open Air in the summer of 2005.

..:: Biography ::..
Tom Hunting, Kirk Hammett and Gary Holt founded EXODUS in 1982, shortly after selecting an appropriate singer the band, Paul Baloff, who completed the line up perfectly and bringing the dream to fruition. Within the following year EXODUS gained huge attention in the international underground scene, evolving from an insiders' tip of the tape trading community to a highly popular act. Innovative song writing and explosive live shows made the difference, EXODUS brought Bay Area Thrash to the world and inspired many bands, among them METALLICA, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL and VIOLENCE (respectively MACHINE HEAD). In 1983 Kirk Hammet left the band to join METALLICA, and was replaced by Rick Hunolt, and soon after Rob McKillop complimented mix. The debut "Bonded By Blood" was released two years later and became a timeless thrash classic still appreciated today. A vast tour with SLAYER and VENOM preceded next thus the name EXODUS spread more and more.

Shortly before the second album "Pleasures Of The Flesh" showed up in 1987, Baloff left the band due to personal and musical differences and got replaced by Steve "Zetro" Souza (ex-LEGACY). The line-up and chemistry was working for the creativity and the subsequent success of the band. With the studio records like; "Fabulous Disaster", "Impact Is Imminent" and "Force Of Habit" as well as the live album "Good Friendly Violent Fun" and the compilation "Lessons In Violence" EXODUS kept on improving their style and promoted their music with a large number of gigs including tours with PANTERA, ANTHRAX, MOTÖRHEAD, BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA, MEGADETH and many others.

1992 saw the split of EXODUS, affected by stress and personal problems. A short reunion happened 1996 (with their "old" singer Paul Baloff) with a tour through Europe and North America and the release of the second live record "Another Lesson In Violence". Another break took place until September 2001 when EXODUS attended the "Thrash Of The Titans" benefit show featuring LEGACY, ANTHRAX, S.O.D. and DEATH ANGEL. Afterwards the band started writing new material but got adjourned abruptly: Paul Baloff suffered a stroke on 2nd February 2002 and passed away. Back with Souza at the microphone EXODUS continued working and finally finished the recording sessions for the new, ultimate comeback album "Tempo Of The Damned" in 2003.

The new EXODUS album "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" is set to be released on October 4th 2005 and this will definitely be THE THRASH album of the year 2005!!!
